We are all waiting for 2021, with hopes and desperation. We feel that everything will magically change as the date on the calendar changes. 2021 may be the most awaited year of this decade. 2020 admonished us like a school teacher and forced us to sit at home and look at our lives, deeply, minutely and intimately. What works, what does not work, what are our shortcomings and strengths, what are the skillsets that we need to have, who are the people we surround ourselves with. There were questions and lots of questions and introspection, juggling and struggling. We looked and reviewed ourselves as an individual, as a society, as a country and as being on this planet. We realized that we were an individual and whole at the same time. We were disconnected and connected at the same time. And the most important takeaway was that our actions mattered, however big or small they were. 2020 made us think about things that our parents, teachers, books, religion could not do. It made us think in a way no other year has.
We human beings have this amazing quality of moving on and forgetting and adapting. Will we forget 2020 as one of the chapters in our collective lives or will it turn out to be a turning point year? Will we take steps that our lockdown realizations had propelled, or will we go back being who we were? Will those lessons stay with us or will we happily put it all behind us? Well, only time will tell. Until then let us look forward to 2021 with hopeful and grateful eyes.
